How to pass your driving test in 9 easy steps

1. Study

If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Study as much as possible in the run up to your test to familiarise yourself with all of the necessary information. The more prepared you are, the less nervous you will be.

2. Practice

Take every available opportunity to hone your skills on the road. There really is no substitute for experience.

3. Get support

Talking about your test beforehand with friends and family can help to ease your nerves but be cautious about telling too many people. If everybody knows you’re taking your test it could add unnecessary pressure as you might be more worried about failing.

4. Positive self-talk

Reassure yourself that you’ve prepared adequately and are ready to tackle the test. Staying positive is key.

5. Don’t lose perspective

Potentially stressful situations like a driving test can seem like a matter of life and death at the time but in reality they’re just a small part of your life. There are more important things. The worst thing that can happen is you have to retake the test. No big deal!

6. Eat well

Make sure you eat properly the day before and morning of your test. Try to avoid drinkning too much coffee as it might make you agitated.

7. Be polite and listen

Even if you’re nervous and a bit stressed out, try your best to be nice to your examiner and listen carefully to their instructions.

8. Think of the examiner as your friend

Although the situation itself may be daunting, remember that the examiner doesn’t want to see you fail. We’re all human. If you’re nice and respectful to them, they’ll return the favour.

9. Concentrate but remain calm

Try not to be too hasty when making decisions. Think about each action carefully and follow through confidently.

Follows these steps and you’re sure to pass your test with flying colours!

Best of luck,
